Missions

He said to them,
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons:
they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands;
and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all;
  they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.

Mark 16:15-19 NIV

Brad & Jen Butcher with Passion4People International

 .

Blaine, Abigail, Judah, Levi, Asher, and Simeon Butcher

 Blaine and Abigail Butcher have been appointed by World Venture to be part of a church-planting movement in France.

Blaine grew up as a PK (pastor's kid), he trusted Christ at an early age. He graduated from Multnomah Bible College and served in an Oregon church for 4 1/2 years.  He met Abigail at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a Th.M.

Abigail came to Christ in the summer before going to Texas A & M.  She graduated with a teaching certificate and heart for international students.  She went to Dallas Theological Seminary and earned a masters degree in cross-cultural ministry.

After 9/11, Blaine felt that France was the last place that he wanted to servce, but God opened his eyes to the great needs and opportunities.  Abigail was interested in minisrty to Muslims.  They discovered that France has the largest Muslim population in Europe and many predict that it will be a predominately Muslim country in the next 10-20 years.

Blaine and Abigail believe that the local church is the best way to spread the Gospel.  Their vision is to work with French believers to establish a vigorous   indigenous church-planting movement in France.

 If you wish to help support their mission through monthly financial support or prayer, you can do so by calling the church at 503-397-3880, or you can vist the World Venture commitment page, or you can visit the World Venture Home Page to learn more about the goals and Mission of World Venture.

Alma Steinhauer

The goal of Nursing Home Ministries is to reach out to adult care facilities in America with the love of our Lord. We take the words of Matthew 25:40 as guiding words from your Lord.

"Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me."

It is our goal to share the Gospel with those needing salvation and to uplift and encourage those who have a relationship with the Lord. Residents in senior care facilities face new challenges which can be difficult for many of them.

We want to be there with God's love. One in five adults over the age of 65 will spend some part of their remaining years in a senior care facility. We don't want them forgotten.

Stephan & Satomi Sakamoto

Stephen & Satomi Sakamoto: Kobe , Japan

     The Sakamoto Family have been in Japan for the past ten years, and living in Kobe for the past eight years. Stephen was raised in Hawaii, graduated from Oregon State University and Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Satomi was born and raised in Japan, graduated from college in Japan with a degree in English and Education. Jessica, their oldest daughter will be a high school senior this fall, while Jennifer their younger daughter will be a high school sophomore. Jessi and Jenni completed Elementary and Junior High School in the Japanese Public School System before entering their current English International School.

     Both Jessi and Jenni help every Sunday morning with the children God sends to their Sunday School and Adult Chapel time. Without their help the parents with small and young children probably would not come because there would be no one to tend to them during the chapel time for adults!

     Their family is starting a Japanese church in their home. The church plant is four years old. Through various meetings of outreach, they are making contact with many children and adults. These include: Conversational English Classes for adults and children, Parenting Classes for young mothers, Marriage meetings for couples, Bible & Baking Club meetings for housewives, weekly Public Elementary School English Teaching, weekday Church School (Sunday School type meetings) for children, and Sunday Morning Sunday School for children and Adult Sunday Chapel (church) meetings.

Mark Scrivener Ministries

                                Mark & Patty Scrivener

Both Mark and Patty have doctorates in Theology and Missions.

They have been called to take the Gospel into Mexico—often into places that others will not go. They set up Bible schools to equip pastors in their ministries.  They also run a Bible school in Odessa Texas.

During their ministry they have witnessed many miraculous healings including—a woman with Parkinson’s disease, a woman with cataracts, a deaf-mute Gypsy, and a man with a heart condition.

Isaiah 35:3-7 strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.  Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.  Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing.
