Jewels Of The Oasis
These women are refugees living in Kampala.  They formally lived in Northern Uganda under the tyranny and fear of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).  Their husbands were either killed by the LRA or by AIDS.

JEWELS OF THE OASIS

These necklaces were made by widows in Uganda, East Africa.

Originally, equipment and training was provided for them to earn an income drilling wells using a small portable well drilling machine.  Unfortunately, this equipment was stolen from them. Being resourceful, on their own they began this business of crafting these beautiful necklaces made from news print and other paper.  Every bead is meticulously and painstakingly made by hand.

Senior Pastor, Fred Butcher from Yankton Community Fellowship has visited these ladies in Uganda on several occasions and can vouch for them.  These necklaces were not produced in a sweat shop and all proceeds (accept for shipping and a small cost for wiring the proceeds back to them) will go directly to these widows so they can support themselves and their children.
